Dermot OBrien joined Sotheby's International Realty in 2019 after 35 years of business experience including a 10-year successful tenure owning and operating his own brokerage firm, Dermot OBrien Realty, on Singer Island. He has a wealth of information to offer clients looking to buy, sell or lease real estate on Singer Island, Juno Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Jupiter, and the island of Palm Beach.



With over $300M in sales on Singer Island and the surrounding areas since 2004, Dermot has been recognized by several important publications and has been the recipient of a number of awards including the 2012 Ritz Carlton Residences Power Broker Award, 2013-14 International Property Magazine Best Real Estate Agent Florida Award, and the 2017-2018 Best Boutique Real Estate Brokerage Florida Award by the same publication.



Dermot has an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and a BA from University College Dublin in Ireland. A life-long learner, he recently completed a diploma in digital marketing from the Digital Marketing Institute.



Dermot, a native of Ireland, began his business career in London, England working for a leading advertising agency and later in new product development. After completing his MBA in Evanston, Illinois, he continued his successful career in marketing and management consulting before launching his own Internet business in 1997. Working for both large companies and small companies such as Unilever USA in Greenwich, Connecticut and Collett Dickenson Pearce Advertising in London, England, Dermot has gained a wide range of business experience.



After beginning his real estate career in East Hampton, New York, Dermot moved to Florida in 2003, became interested in the exclusive enclave of Singer Island, and worked on-site for a condominium developer building a luxury resort residence on the island. His consultative approach to the sales process paid off and rewarded him with 40 multi-million-dollar sales and a prestigious award for the project to boot. He went on to deepen his real estate market knowledge of Singer Island and surrounding areas to assist his customers with successfully selling their real estate in an incredibly depressed market. Through this, he gained further general real estate experience at some of the leading real estate brokerages in the area and was the recipient of top producer awards in 2008, 2009, and 2010.



In 2010, Dermot founded Islands Realty (later renamed to Dermot OBrien Realty), setting up an office in the Palm Beach Marriot Singer Island Hotel & Resort. With his focus on providing concierge style service and a dedication to innovative marketing and cutting-edge technology, Dermot OBrien Realty became one of the premier boutique agencies in the area. The combination of his 35 years of experience in all facets of business, his tenacity, and his incredible ease with clients has enabled him to stand out from the pack and become one of the more respected Realtors working in the area. He has sold over 300 properties in the last 18 years and represented landlords and tenants in well over 100 transactions.
